Jonathan Bunnel Friend, aged 87, died December 18, 1948, at his

home near Friendsville.  He had been confined to his bed since

March 4, 1947, when he fell in the home, fracturing his hip.

 

Deceased was born November 26, 1861, a son of the late Anna E.

and Elijah Friend, of near Friendsville.  He was born and spent

his entire life on the home farm, being a farmer and fruit

grower.  He was a member of the Methodist church since the age of

23.

 

In the year of 1890 he was united in marriage to Hattie U.

Coddington, deceased in 1931.  To this union were born two

daughters.

 

Surviving are Mrs. Norris K. Welch, Mt. Lake Park; Miss Icie G.

Friend, at home; one sister, Mrs. Harry J. Black, Friendsville;

one brother, Henry Amster Friend, Pittsburgh, Pa.; two grandsons,

Wellington W. and Raymond R. Welch, Mt. Lake Park; and one great

grandson, "Billy" Welch.

 

Funeral service were conducted on Tuesday afternoon, December 21,

from the Hoyes Methodist Church, Rev. W.E. Wade, paster,

officiating. Assisted by Rev. Ross Speicher and his quartet,

rendering three numbers. Interment was in the family lot at

Addison, Pa. cemetery.
