GEORGE WASHINGTON FRIEND

George Washington Friend died suddenly at Annapolis on Tuesday,

December 13, 1938, aged 59 years, 5 months, 25 days.  Mr.. Friend

was employed in the WPA office there and had just left the office

when stricken.  He was rushed to an emergency hospital but was

pronounced dead upon arrival.

 

Mr. Friend was born at Swanton, this county, June 18, 1879, the

son of Harriett and the late John B. Friend.  Surviving are his

Maurice, Alpharetta, Bernice, and I??say Friend, and his aged

mother Mrs. Harriett Friend, of Swanton; also the following

sisters and brothers, Mrs. L. L. Wright, Mrs. Henry Johnson, Mrs.

William Warnick, and Mrs. Clyde Landis, Fred, Robert, John and

Gilbert, all of Swanton; Walter, of Cumberland; and Mrs. J. B.

Saville, and William R. Friend, of Romney, W. Va.

 

The deceased was well known in this county, having taught school

here for a number of years before moving with his family to the

eastern shore.
