MARY DEWITT

Mary "Ethel" (Savage) DeWitt, 99, formerly of McHenry, died

Monday, March 12, 2001, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital,

Oakland.

Born Dec. 1, 1901, in Sang Run, she was a daughter of the late

Sherman Grant Savage and Martha (Cross) Savage. She was also

preceded in death by her husband, Joseph C. DeWitt, in 1978; one

son, Paul W. DeWitt; one daughter, Elva Jo Frantz; one sister;

seven brothers; two grandchildren; and one greatgranddaughter.

She was a lifelong member of the Oak Grove Church of the

Brethren.

Survivors include two daughters, Marie Keller, Pierceton, Ind.,

and Alice Strobel, McHenry; two sons, Edward DeWitt, McHenry, and

Joseph DeWitt, Oakland; one sister, Hazel Friend, Cambridge

Springs, Pa.; 19 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; seven

step-great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, McHenry. A

service was conducted at the Oak Grove Church of the Brethren

earlier today, March 15, with the Rev. Donald Matthews

officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
